Beefheart had a fantastic voice: range of about 3 octaves. Check out 'There aint no Santa Claus on the evening stage' or 'Big eyed being from Venus'

Last time I got reviewed my voice was compared to Tom Waits, which probably slanders both of us.

Louis Armstrong, and Tom Waits can both sing pitch perfectly, it's just their voices are dirty sounding instruments that don't ring choirboy cleanly, but nevertheless hold their tunes perfectly. Two of my favourite voices in the history of recorded music,

I still say Tom Waits is the man we need to record a version of "Bubbles." If you know Tom, you'll also suspect it's one of his songs that he wrote in a previous life. He could rock it, especially using one of his brass and woodwind sections he summons from hell.
